Pecanland
October 28, 2010
I took the dogs for a walk today, and I wasn't the least bit surprised to see Lily poop out a pecan loaf. Last night, when everyone had gone to bed, I flopped down on the couch to watch some bad college football, and I noticed that my two canine sidekicks weren't there with me. I found them outside, shelling and eating a pecan feast.

Sports Post

The two NFL quaterbacks with the most interceptions are Favre and Brees. Not such a surprise for Old Man Favre (and from now on, everyone with a four inch penis should refer to it as "Old Man Favre"), but it's just shocking to see Brees play so poorly. Blame the Madden curse, blame the new baby with the terrible name (Bowen Brees sounds like a too-sweet fruity rum drink that you would order at a horrible all inclusive resort), but whatever it is, it's not so much fun to watch.

Don't Think Twice, Dylan 's Alright
October 22, 2010
The biggest testament to Bob Dylan's songwriting ability might just be that he was able to crank out hits, despite having a voice that would be envied only by a seal with a two-pack-a-day smoking habit.

Be Like Mike
October 14, 2010
There's this old picture that used to sit in a frame in our house growing up. I'm about five, my sister two or three. We're in front of Mike the Tiger's cage wearing 70s winter coats that might look stylish again by now, but were certainly ugly while the picture was displayed through the 1980s.

Let Me Be a Grouchy Old Man in Peace
October 05, 2010
Unlike when I was a student, today's kids set up tailgate parties out amongst the fans and families spread all over campus. It's a little ironic that the kids today don't have a good place to go drink without legal hassle, other than right out in the open next to traffic-directing policemen.

Songs and Poems for the New School Year
September 01, 2010
Every week I see more and more Facebook updates about the start of school. Apparently, we started before anyone else, which is fine, because it's too darned hot for the kids to be doing anything else right now anyway. Vanya started Pre-K4, in which they do a little more learning than they did in Pre-K3. By the time he starts Kindergarten, he will have exceeded the amount of school instruction that I ever received in Music, Spanish, or Religion.

Hooray for Dollywood!
August 11, 2010
On Tuesday, July 28, theskinnyonbenny family found ourselves in a rental house on a lake just West of Knoxville, Tennessee. We were with the Linkin family, and it was this particular day that we had chosen to load four adults and four children into a single mini van, and take the scenic route to the east. Our ultimate destination: Dollywood.
