Starlink is changing everything, and some of the sailors are maaaaaaddd about it.

As I mentioned when we last gathered, there are lots of reasons to spend time on Long Island, Bahamas. There were at least two things that I'll remember about that island forever, and a funny story to go with them. Here's a post about sailing in 2021 that isn't all disasters.

We were at Great Exuma that Summer just before Fourth of July weekend. Our generator had long since shit the bed. Goodbye, sweet air conditioning. Goodbye working outlets from which we can charge the devices that we need in order to pay the bills. And goodbye to the most efficient way to keep the boat's batteries topped off.

Back before the days of blogs and digital images, Mrs theskinnyonbenny and I got married and took a follow-up trip to Ireland. We toured around for a bit and happened to end up in Dublin at the same time that then-president Clinton was in town. You young uns won't remember, but back in the day, terrorists would occasionally blow up buildings in Ireland...

I couldn't even find Slovenia on a map before I went there. This post has something to do with boats and sailing, something to do with going to another universe, and not too much travel disaster.

Our 2021 sailing trip to the Bahamas was an absolute disaster. Before we left, lightnight fried our boat's electronics. The generator didn't make it to Key West. And we lost tons of consumer electronics to Neptune as well. We managed to have some fun though. This is how the trip started.

We went on a Covid-summer road trip that took us the whole Summer. The cat took an entirely different Summer vacation in the Ozarks.

I never really understood how a change of scenery keeps my work from being oh-so-boring. I've actually had a lot to do, and interesting things to work on. I've got a view of every out-building on the 3900 block between Claycut Rd. and Capital Heights, and I'm still itching for a change.
