Footnotes:
- First and foremost, for most of this map, I get a data point every 15 minutes. The boat could be on an up-wave slowdown, a surf down a wave face, or be twisting its heading because of a sideways wave. There's no way to know. So information averaged over a day is good, but any single data point has to be taken with a grain of salt.
- The current information isn't logged, so I'm comparing the speed and direction over earth's surface from the GPS data to the speed and direction from the boat's sensor and compass. Subtracting those should show me the current (and also leeway, but I can't separate that out). But it's been a while since I regularly subtracted two-dimensional vectors, and I have not really tested the results very well. Some of the numbers I see seem a little suspect. Some seem fine.
- Everything from the Europe and most of the way across the Atlantic is data that our device uploaded to PredictWind. At some point, I found that I could get the device to log more information to files. So from that point, we have a lot more data. There's no way to get additional data from the first several months of sailing.
