I'm out of practice at this. After a really busy October and November, I have some time to update my site. (I haven't even looked at our Halloween pictures yet!) But, alas, my less-than-one-year-old laptop had a hard drive crash last week, and everything I'm comfortable with is gone gone.

So what does everyone think of their new iPhone OS? The maps are getting hammered, but I think they're really cool. Of course, they have some flaws, but Google's maps were pretty bad at first too, and they didn't have 3D buildings or turn-by-turn navigation.

I'm going to push all my chips in on my new campaign to reclaim the sun visor from the douchebags. Technically, I think that females playing golf or tennis can also get away with wearing a visor without looking like a douchebag, but there's no chance for men.

I saw in the paper today that Tivo is coming out with a thing where you can hit a button and buy a product that you're seeing on TV. Say John Stewart is interviewing a guest about a book he wrote. You hit a button on the remote, and a box from Amazon shows up with your book a few days later.

It's hard to believe how much difference an hour makes. I speak of the one hour difference between the Eastern and Central time zone. For example, last night, I picked up Mrs. theskinnyonbenny from her work stuff at 5:00. We went back to the condo, let her change clothes, walked into the tiny downtown, picked a restuarant, ate, had a couple of drinks, and walked back home.

Now that November sweeps is over, we're suddenly catapulted from a TV universe where there are all new shows on all of the time, to one where you can't find original programming (save sappy holiday garbage) to save a life. It makes it all the more annoying that the cable box DVR just chose not to record The Apprentice finale last week.

One of my favorite gifts is a knock-off of a nice watch. My dad seems to know a good watch guy, in the sea of Bangkok vendors who sell any counterfit consumer product that you can dream of.

Last March, there was an interesting post to a sailing-related email list to which I subscribe. I get a good bit of interesting stuff, and I generally just drag the message over to a folder so that I can give it a good read some time later.
