Benny's Book Review - Horror Movie
January 15, 2025
2024 was a big year for reading books for me. I log them on Goodreads, mainly to help prevent me from re-reading something that was forgettable. I rate them, but I don't write reviews. I just did a quick search, and it looks like the last time I mentioned a book before this post might have been in 2015. And 2009 before that.

Purging My Innermost Complaints
May 28, 2015
I keep hearing something that is turning me into a deranged, foamy-mouthed lunatic. I'm not sure if this has just started, or if I've just started noticing. But I keep hearing people say "bolth" instead of "both." Are these maniacs stooges for the "L" lobby? Also, comments on a podcast, some journalism, and a sailboat electronics installation. It's not as disjointed as it sounds.

Book Review and Dream
March 07, 2008
The first book that I've actually finished in almost six months was The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro. Like a couple of others that I had started and then abandoned, this one was tough to complete. I needed a finished book to keep from feeling stupid, so I persevered.

Benny's Book List: The Know it All
August 24, 2006
By the time you see this post, I might have updated my little reading list to the side. Or then again, I might not have. This summer has featured really bad television along with Mrs. theskinnyonbenny being out of town or at work dinners more often than I'm used to. The result is that I've been reading books like Burgess Meredith in that old Twilight Zone episode.

Haunted
February 21, 2006
I was just recently talking about all of those ghost shows on late night cable TV. I had been watching one about a bar that was haunted by a former bartender who had blown out his brains with a shotgun in the back room. It was one of those shows where actors play the parts, and then they switch over to the actual people for little interview segments.

Benny's Book Review: The Last Season
February 08, 2005
I am currently reading Phil Jackson's book, The Last Season. It has a subtile which I can't remember. From reading the text, I'm pretty sure that Phil intended the subtitle to be, ...and Kobe Bryant is a no good whining bastard, but the editors probably shot that down. (Actually -- to be honest -- I downloaded an mp3 copy of Phil Jackson's book, and I've been listening to it while I walk the dog in the evening. It's not the same as reading the book, but I don't really have the right verb. "I'm currently listening to the book," doesn't work, because I'm not currently listening to it. I'm currently typing on a laptop. You see the problem.)
